About
Claire Collins - Principal
Claire brings a considered, process-driven approach to the creation of warm, intuitive and enduring interior spaces, underscored by a strong spatial sensibility. Holding a Bachelor of Interior Architecture, she draws on more than 20 years’ experience across residential, commercial, hospitality and healthcare design, grounded by her formative years spent within leading architecture and interior studios in Sydney, London and Melbourne.
Her career has been shaped by experience working and living in cities with distinct architectural identities. Each place has contributed to her nuanced understanding of design’s relationship to culture, climate and daily life, informing an approach that balances clarity, functionality and emotional resonance.
Claire’s portfolio spans six-star residential and hotel developments, major commercial workplace fitouts and law courts in central London, a children’s hospital in Melbourne, and a diverse collection of hospitality, medical and high-end residential projects. This breadth has cultivated a deep technical fluency and an assured grasp of regulatory frameworks, operational workflows and user-centric planning — particularly within complex commercial and healthcare environments. At the same time, Claire brings a refined, layered sensibility to residential work, applying a discerning eye for materials, detailing and the subtle finishing touches that give a space its character. Her hands on, methodical approach ensures each project is guided by design integrity, environmental responsibility and a commitment to producing well considered, enduring outcomes.
Now based in Newcastle, Claire leads MiChiBu with a calm, collaborative presence, fostering trust with clients and offering a thoughtful, holistic perspective to every stage of the design process. Her work seeks to bring beauty, functionality and longevity into quiet dialogue — creating spaces that feel grounded, meaningful and built to support the people who use them.
