How we work
Our design journey begins with an initial Design Consultation. An opportunity to discuss your design aspirations, assess your spatial requirements and provide professional design insight. These two-hour consultations may be used to seek design advice on anything from colour consultations, wallpapers or fabric selections, spatial or lighting design, artwork selection and placement and styling advice. For larger spaces, this initial consultation is used to discuss the project brief, our design methodology, your functional requirements and timing. Following our consultation, you will receive an email confirming our discussions.

Design Brief
Ideally meeting with you on-site, we discuss your project needs in detail and all your hopes and dreams for the project. We're happy to look at any inspirational images, products you love, or pinterest boards you have created - you can share as much or as little as you like! We talk through how you envisage you will utilise the space. We use this time on site to measure and photograph spaces allowing for accurate generation of plans.
Please note we also work off current architectural plans if your project is underway and love to work alongside your architect or builder to ensure all details are incorporated during construction.

Concept Plans
Following the initial briefing and assessment of the spaces we develop concept plans (usually presenting two options) of how you might best utilise your space and provide some initial direction in terms of colours, furniture, materials and finishes.

Design Development
Working from your preferred concepts, we develop the plan in more detail, including elevations and sections where needed to describe the proposed spaces effectively. We further develop the proposed furniture, materials and finishes presenting the finished design for to your approval.

Design Coordination + Documentation
With the design development signed-off we are ready to document the design in detail providing complete technical drawings for builders, carpenters and joiners. We finalise and specify the materials and finishes, and propose any additional elements to complete the styling of your space.

Construction & Installation
This is when the fun really starts - we love when projects get to the construction phase and we can see the designs and spaces really starting to take shape! We can be there on site to check the progress and ensure the oversee installation at various stages.

Styling + Completion
MiChiBu can ensure your space is ready to move into when we are done!

Unpacking and arranging assembly of furniture, hanging pictures, placing rugs, positioning all the unique finishing touches. We can complete the entire picture, ready for your arrival.
